We have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our established engineering and maintenance team at our chemical manufacturing facility in Llanelli.
In this role, you will play a key part in driving asset reliability, continuous improvement, and mechanical integrity across the site. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations within a hazardous process environment.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:
Proactively identify and implement plant reliability and maintenance improvements to prevent failures and optimise performance
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, using KPIs to enhance efficiency, planning, and work quality
Provide technical support and coaching to technicians, contractors, and the wider maintenance team
Manage and maintain technical documentation, including manuals, procedures, risk assessments, and maintenance records
Own and optimise preventative and condition-based maintenance activities (e.g. vibration analysis, oil sampling)
Take ownership of mechanical spare parts management, balancing availability, cost, and lead times
Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and technical regulations, including auditing maintenance work
Support fault diagnosis and problem solving in collaboration with Operations
Contribute to Management of Change (MOC) processes and participate in HAZOP studies, commissioning, and equipment trials
Provide input into capital projects, including design, equipment selection, and commissioning activities
Support pressure systems compliance and statutory inspections
Manage and supervise external contractors, ensuring safety and technical compliance
Experience and Competencies:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification
Proven experience in a chemical, COMAH, or complex manufacturing environment
trong understanding of mechanical asset integrity and reliability engineering principles
Experience using CMMS systems (e.g. SAP or Maximo)
Knowledge of preventative maintenance and condition monitoring techniques
Experience working in safety-critical and hazardous environments
Exposure to ATEX environments is an advantage
Chartered status (or working towards IMechE accreditation) is desirable
