Hours

Part time hours: 2-4 hours a week subject to hours available.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Alternative Provision Learning Support Assistant to join our educational team. This role involves providing personalised support to students with special educational needs, particularly those with autism and other disabilities, within a specialised learning environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, helping students achieve their full potential. Prior experience working with children, individuals with disabilities, or in special education settings is highly desirable. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in education and support, making a meaningful difference in young people's lives.

Duties

Provide personalised one-to-one support to students with autism and other special educational needs during lessons and activities
Assist students with daily tasks, including organisation, communication, and behavioural management
Implement tailored learning programmes under the guidance of teaching staff
Support students’ social and emotional development within the classroom environment
Help facilitate communication between students and staff using appropriate methods
Monitor student progress and report any concerns to the designated SENCO or teaching team
Support students with toddler care activities where applicable, ensuring their safety and wellbeing
Promote an inclusive environment that encourages participation and confidence among all students

Qualifications

Experience working with children, particularly those with autism or disabilities, is highly advantageous
Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting individuals with special needs
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, teachers, and parents
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting diverse learners
Previous experience in teaching or support roles within educational settings is desirable but not essential
Ability to work flexibly within a team environment and adapt to individual student needs
