Full job description

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Data Analyst to join our Post 16 NEET Team for a fixed period of 12 months, supporting the effective use of NCCIS and wider participation data to improve outcomes for children and young people.

This role is central to ensuring the accuracy, quality and insightful use of data that informs operational practice, performance reporting and strategic decisionmaking.

Key Responsibilities

Manage, analyse and maintain NCCIS and CCIS participation data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
Produce monthly, quarterly and annual statistical information, dashboards and analytical insights, also adhoc reports, for internal teams, senior leaders and external partners.
Support the tracking, monitoring and reporting of NEET, EET and RON cohorts.
Support statutory returns, performance frameworks and continuous service improvement.
Work closely with NEET Advisers, managers and partners to translate data into actionable intelligence that improves practice.
Contribute to data quality assurance, validation processes and audit requirements. Database interrogation to identify issues, investigating data and quality assurance issues in relation to inputting and find solutions.

About you

We are looking for a dedicated and positive person to join our close-knit team. A meticulous approach to data analysis is vital to this role.

The successful candidate will be a highly capable and detail-oriented individual with a strong analytical aptitude and a proven ability to work with complex datasets in a structured and methodical manner. You will bring experience of working with participation or case management systems such as Core+ (IYSS) or similar, alongside experience of managing and maintaining NCCIS data, including validation processes and statutory data returns to the Department for Education.

You will have a sound understanding of the post-16 participation landscape, with direct experience gained within a NEET, participation or post-16 transitions service, enabling you to confidently track and interpret young people’s destinations. Your understanding of NEET policy, statutory guidance and participation duties will underpin your ability to ensure compliance and support effective performance monitoring.

With proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, you will be adept in the use of PivotTables and functions such as VLOOKUP or Index and Match to interrogate and analyse large datasets. You will be experienced in producing accurate, high-quality reports, interpreting data, processing and presenting clear, concise insights to a range of stakeholders, thereby supporting performance management and continuous service improvement.

A high level of attention to detail, combined with strong problem-solving skills is essential and will enable you to identify data quality issues and implement effective solutions, ensuring reliable data is effectively utilised to improve outcomes for children and young people.

You will demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines, whilst being a strong team player who is happy to support colleagues and partners when required. You will also have the ability to communicate findings clearly to colleagues who may not have a technical background.

Experience in data cleansing and Power BI would be highly beneficial.
