We are looking to recruit two new CAP apprentice role in the Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT) in Bristol this autumn 2026. We are looking to place the roles in Inner City and East (ICE) Bristol and in South Bristol MINTs. Both roles are 0.9wte.
We will also consider applications from Clinical Associate Psychologists who have completed their training.
As part of the Community Mental Health Framework, we are delivering an exciting transformation programme to support people with mental health needs to get the help they need efficiently, and close to home. MINT is a new model, bringing together Primary and Secondary care, Local Authority and Voluntary sector services, into new Mental Health and Wellbeing Integrated Network Teams. These teams aim to support individuals who can fall through the ‘gaps’ of current pathways, making sure that they have the personalised support they need with services around them.

Apprenticeship Programme & Eligibility for Apprenticeship Funding As this is an apprenticeship position, you will be required to successfully complete a Level 7 ‘Clinical Associate in Psychology’ apprenticeship whilst undertaking the requirements of the position.
Applicants will have already obtained English & Maths at Level 2 (or equivalent GCSE Grades C/4 or above) Your exact pattern of work and study time will need to be agreed with your line manager. You will need to be able to evidence 20% of your working hours, across the full duration of your programme as ‘new learning’.
Depending on the delivery mode of your apprenticeship programme this requirement may be met through a combination of assessor contacts, online attendance and workplace learning and mentoring.

This CAP role aims to offer assessment, formulation and brief psychological interventions to people with significant mental health difficulties, working within the MINT. The ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and across networks will be essential to developing your role. As a service, we are committed to addressing issues of structural inequalities and oppressive practices that can often create barriers in the provision of equitable care for the service user groups across BNSSG.
To undertake a structured programme of learning including personal study, academic work, placement learning and assessment leading to the award of an MSc in Clinical Associate Psychology and employment as Clinical Associate Psychologist (Band 6).
To undertake specialised psychological assessments, treatments and other types of clinical intervention appropriate to this level of training with individual & groups of service users.
The trainee will receive supervision within the job role to ensure that they meet the required levels of competence to complete the MSc course and the end point assessment.
To become able to work independently, initially under supervision, on a day-to-day basis. This work will be supervised and reviewed regularly with supervision usually offered by a qualified Clinical Psychologist.
Trainee Clinical Associate Psychologists are required to abide by the BPS Code of Conduct and meet induction standards, and NHS employers are required to abide by the Code of Practice for employers.
MSc Trainees are required to fulfil both academic and clinical requirements, including the end point assessment in order to progress in training to qualify. Qualification will ordinarily be within 18 months of commencement of the course. Should it become clear that qualification is unlikely in a reasonable timeframe employment may be ended on notice following application of the Trust’s probationary period. The Trust’s Probationary Policy (available on request) will apply for the duration of employment as an apprentice.
Eligibility criteria for apprenticeships are dictated by the National Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the UK government. Within the funding rules it stipulates that to be eligible for an apprenticeship: Within these rules it stipulates that: (1) You must have been an ordinary resident of the UK/EU country for at least 3 years prior to the start date of the apprenticeship (which does not include time on a student visa) (2) You must have enough time remaining on your current visa to cover the full duration of the apprenticeship programme. (3) Not completing another government funded programme of learning at the same time as the apprenticeship . We will be required to check the above eligibility criteria before an unconditional offer of employment, which includes the apprenticeship programme, can be made. We as a Trust have no jurisdiction on the funding rules set by the ESFA or Government therefore unable to employ ineligible applicants into this apprenticeship position.
