Business Unit: Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution
Project: BTNO (Beauly to New Dearness Overhead Line)
Location: Assington suffolk
Reports to: Senior Project Manager / Project Manager
As a Construction Manager (Cabling), you will be responsible for planning, managing and delivering cabling construction activities on the BTNO project. You will support the wider project team to ensure the successful delivery of construction works in line with programme, cost and quality expectations.
You will play a key leadership role in ensuring works are delivered safely, sustainably, and efficiently, while fostering a high-performing team environment and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
What you'll be doing
- Plan, manage and deliver cabling construction activities across site
- Safely and sustainably deliver works in line with programme, cost and quality requirements
- Ensure construction activities align with project scope, constraints and overall objectives (time, cost, quality, risk and benefits)
- Monitor progress and implement corrective actions to ensure successful delivery
- Champion a culture of Zero Harm and ensure compliance with all HSE legislation and company standards
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS
- Lead safety tours, audits and behavioural safety initiatives
- Ensure the safety and welfare of employees, supply chain, and the public
- Provide strong leadership, management and direction to a multi-disciplinary construction team
- Inspire and motivate teams to achieve a common goal
- Ensure sufficient resource levels, competencies and systems are in place to deliver works
- Support development, mentoring and performance of team members
- uild and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeholders
- Ensure clear and consistent communication across all project interfaces
- Represent Balfour Beatty in a professional and collaborative manner
- Review, monitor and continuously improve construction performance
- Drive productivity and efficiency across cabling operations
- Implement short interval control and performance reporting processes
- Support cost control, budget management and efficient use of resources
- Contribute to planning, scheduling and resource allocation
- Manage subcontractors to ensure contractual and programme requirements are met
- Ensure works are delivered to required quality standards and specifications
- Lead assurance activities, inspections and audits
- Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned across the project
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience in construction management within utilities, energy or infrastructure projects (cabling experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction delivery, project controls and commercial awareness
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience implementing safe systems of work and managing HSE requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure and deliver results
- Experience working on large-scale transmission & distribution or infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of underground cabling, HV/LV systems or similar
- Experience with NEC or other standard forms of contract
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS (or equivalent)
- Full UK Driving Licence
