JOB PURPOSE
We see a Learning Support Assistant as a crucial role in Sports Connect; supporting students with a range of learning needs, enabling them to access the curriculum, develop their independence, and achieve their full potential. LSAs will work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. An LSA should be proactive, supportive, approachable and enthusiastic. You should recognise suitable resources and supportive strategies which enhance each student’s learning experience. An LSA should also demonstrate leadership qualities while delivering our practical sessions in the afternoon. There is an expectation to plan in accordance with the NCFE curriculum, deliver effective and meaningful sport session and review these sessions and its impact on the learners.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
-Provide individual and small group support to students with identified learning needs, both within and outside of the classroom.
-Assist students in accessing learning materials and activities, proactively adapt resources to support the needs of the students maintaining as much independence as possible.
-Foster students' social and emotional well-being, promoting positive behaviour and self esteem.
-Help students develop their organisational and study skills, encouraging independent learning strategies.
-Work closely with teaching staff to understand individual student needs, learning styles, and targets.
-Contribute to the planning, delivery, and review of individual support plans and other relevant documentation.
-Communicate effectively with students, parents/carers, and other professionals regarding student progress and support strategies.
-Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided and student progress.
-Assist with the preparation of resources and the creation of a stimulating and accessible learning environment.
-Support students during examinations and assessments, adhering to relevant regulations.
-Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
-Contribute to the wider life of the college/institution, as appropriate.
-Adhere to all college/institution policies and procedures, including safeguarding and confidentiality.
Safeguarding-
Essential:
- Sports Connect is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults. The candidate’s ability to perform the duties aligned to safeguarding and Prevent strategies within this role will be explored during the interview process.

Desirable:
-An enhanced DBS no older than 3 months.
Education, qualifications, training and work experience-
Essential:
-Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent. Level 4 or above in GCSE Maths and English.
Desirable:
-Experience of supporting students with specific learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia), autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or sensory impairments. First Aid qualification.
Knowledge, skills and experience-
Essential:
-Experience of working with young people, preferably in a post-16 or further education setting.
Desirable:
-Experience of the City and Guilds functional skills curriculum.
-Experience of providing personal care support.
-Experience of using assistive technologies.

Essential:
-A good understanding of the diverse learning needs of students and strategies to support them.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
Desirable:
-Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
-Strong organizational and time management skills.
Communication, Evaluation, Monitoring & Reporting-
Essential:
-Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills.
-Computer literate.
-Able to deliver strategic visions of the company to a range of partners in a variety and range of environments.

Essential:

-Full UK drivers licence.
-Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to special educational needs and disabilities.
