We are looking for a capable, proactive and commercially aware Operations Manager to build the operational structure that supports our next phase of growth.
The role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will own operational structure, process and accountability across the store and back office.
Managing and developing the shop floor team is a central part of this role. You will be the person who sets expectations day to day, holds standards, and brings the best out of the people around you, alongside putting consistent systems and disciplines in place and giving leadership accurate, reliable information to make decisions from.
You will work closely with the General Manager, who sets overall commercial direction and culture, while you manage and develop the team and build the operating framework that keeps day-to-day performance consistent and accountable.
Key responsibilities
People management and development
- Manage, supervise and develop the shop floor team day to day
- Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to agreed standards
- Coach and develop individuals, building capability and consistency across the team
- Support recruitment, induction and the ongoing performance of store staff
- Work with the General Manager to embed a more consistent, professional way of working
Operations and process
- Build and maintain clear operational structure, routines and accountability across departments
- Reinstate and run regular store checks against agreed standards, following up where they are not met

- Act as a central coordination point for internal activity and communication
Standards and stock integrity
- Hold consistent standards across availability, merchandising and store presentation
- Support accurate stock control and the integrity of stock data
- Help maintain audit, compliance and record-keeping routines so they happen on schedule, not ad hoc
Reporting and information
- Produce clear, accurate and timely reporting on key measures such as sales, margin, wastage and stock performance
- Surface trends, risks and opportunities to support decision-making
- Track progress against operational targets and flag where action is needed
Coordination and support

- Improve and maintain organised records and internal systems, reducing reliance on any single person

What we are looking for
- Proven experience managing and developing people, with a genuine track record of leading a team and getting the best from it
- Strong organisational and operational management experience, ideally in food retail or a supermarket environment
- A proven track record of building structure, improving systems and driving operational consistency
- Highly proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
- Commercially aware, with a clear understanding of what drives retail performance
- Confident working with data, reporting and performance measures
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a practical, hands-on approach
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office)
What we offer
- Competitive salary with performance incentives
- A key operational role with real influence over how the business runs
- The chance to be part of a growing business and a significant store development
- Close working relationship with senior management
- A supportive but ambitious environment, with strong scope for progression
