Overview
We are a growing, independent accountancy firm based in Rayleigh, Essex. While we take the quality of our work seriously, we believe in maintaining a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment. Sitting between our bookkeeping team and the Director, your primary focus will be taking books and shaping them into final, compliant draft accounts.
Day-to-day responsibilities to include:
- Reviewing Bookkeeping- Checking Xero/QuickBooks/Excel data provided by our bookkeepers or clients at year-end, making adjustments and clearing up any queries.
- Year-End Preparation - Preparing draft statutory accounts and working papers for sole traders and small limited companies
- Tax Compliance - Drafting personal tax returns and corporate tax computations ready for Director review
- Client Contact - Liaising politely and warmly with clients where necessary to gather missing information or clarify tax queries
- Assist with ad hoc projects, or special client requirements as needed.
Requirements
- UK practice experience (essential) - You must have a minimum of 2-3 years of recent experience working inside a UK accountancy practice.
- Software savvy - Highly proficient in cloud accounting platforms (specifically Xero and/or Quickbooks). Experience with standard accounts production and tax software (Iris and/or TaxCalc) is a major advantage.
- Qualifications - We value experience over pieces of paper. Whether you are AAT Level 4, part qualified ACCA or simply qualified by experience, we want to hear from you.
- A Great Attitude - Reliable, accurate, comfortable working independently with a friendly approach to both colleagues and clients.

This role is initially temporary as we are currently facing a very busy period and have a back-log of year-end files and tax returns ready for production. We are looking for a down-to-earth practice professional to join us to help clear the backlog. For the right candidate, this could seamlessly transition into a permanent, long term part-time position within our team.
