Full job description

Role Duties

The role involves leading and overseeing a variety of technology projects within the organisation, managing project lifecycles from initiation to completion. The IT Project Manager will ensure delivery aligns with organisational goals, budgets, and timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure the successful implementation of IT solutions that support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end project management for multiple IT initiatives, including software development, infrastructure upgrades, and cloud computing deployments such as AWS
Develop detailed project plans using project management software like Microsoft Project, TFS, or SharePoint; monitor progress and adjust schedules as necessary
Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, and success criteria
Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure on-time delivery within scope
Coordinate with technical teams on SDLC processes, test-driven development, user acceptance testing (UAT), and release management
Utilise analysis skills to assess project risks, dependencies, and potential issues; implement mitigation strategies accordingly
Oversee the creation of test cases and scripts to validate system functionality during testing phases
Lead programme management activities across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies such as Kanban or Scrum frameworks
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels through written reports and presentations; negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts efficiently
Ensure compliance with disaster recovery protocols and security standards throughout project execution

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience managing complex IT projects using methodologies such as SAFe or Waterfall
Extensive knowledge of project management tools including Microsoft Project, Jira, TFS, Visio, and SharePoint
Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), cloud computing platforms like AWS or Oracle Cloud, and database systems such as SQL or Oracle
Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively
Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail; capable of managing time efficiently under tight deadlines
Experience in requirements gathering, analysis skills, test-driven development practices, and user acceptance testing processes
Effective communication skills for liaising between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

Position in Hierarchy

This role will sit within the technical/project management function, coordinating cross-functional and technical teams to ensure successful delivery of IT projects aligned with organisational strategy.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of programme management principles including release management and disaster recovery planning
Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe Agilist) would be advantageous
Masters Degree in computer sciences or AI
