Senior Planner: Client-Side | Major Secure Programme | Reading (Hybrid)

£70,000–£75,000 + £4,000 car allowance · Hybrid (2 days on site in Reading / 3 days from home) · Active SC clearance essential

We're looking for an experienced, client-side Senior Planner to help drive one of the UK's most significant secure capital programmes, based in Reading.

This is a client-side role. You'll be representing the owner's interests - holding delivery partners to account, protecting the programme, and giving senior leadership a clear, honest picture of where things really are. If you know how to cut through a contractor's programme, find the critical path that actually matters and turn it into decisions, we want to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

Lead client-side planning and programme assurance across a portfolio of capital projects.
Interrogate and challenge delivery partners' programmes under NEC4 - including Clause 31 and 32 submissions and assessments.
Own the integrated master programme: critical path analysis, milestone tracking and schedule integrity.
Turn progress data into planned-vs-actual, forecasting and reporting that senior stakeholders can act on.
Spot programme risk, slippage and delay early - and drive mitigation before it bites.
Support change control, early warnings and compensation events from a planning perspective.
Set the programme drumbeat: lookaheads, progress reviews and reporting people actually use.

What you'll bring (essential)

Active SC clearance, and eligibility to hold and maintain UK security clearance.
Proven planning / project controls experience on major, complex capital programmes — ideally client-side.
Strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4, including Clause 31 / 32 programme assessment.
Expertise in Primavera P6
Confident with critical path analysis and schedule risk.
The credibility and backbone to challenge contractors and influence senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience in a secure, defence, nuclear or other highly regulated environment.
Power BI or similar reporting / dashboarding.
A relevant degree and / or APM / professional accreditation.

The package

£70,000–£75,000 basic salary.
£4,000 car allowance.
25 days' annual leave.
Hybrid working — 2 days on site in Reading, 3 days from home.

Location & security

Reading-based, with a 2-day on-site / 3-day home split. Due to the nature of the programme, active SC clearance is essential - you must already hold it and be eligible to maintain it.

Pay: £70,000.00-£75,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Reading
