Job Overview
At Equibreed UK – where science meets service, we are redefining excellence in equine reproduction. As one of the UK’s leading independent reproductive centres, we combine cutting-edge science with meticulous care and outstanding client service to deliver exceptional results for mares, stallions, and breeders.
We are now seeking a Yard Manager to play a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our operation.
The Opportunity
This is not a standard yard role.
This is an opportunity to lead a high-performance equine facility operating at the forefront of reproductive veterinary medicine—where attention to detail, teamwork, and professionalism directly influence clinical success and client outcomes.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the yard, ensuring the highest standards of horse welfare, operational efficiency, team leadership, and presentation are consistently delivered.
Experience within breeding, reproductive, stud, or foaling environments would be highly advantageous.
About the Role
As Yard Manager, you will:
- Oversee the care and management of a diverse population of horses, including stallions, donor mares, recipient mares, foals, and client horses
- Manage and confidently handle stallions, mares, foals, and youngstock within a specialist reproductive environment, including supporting foaling and neonatal care
- Lead and develop a team of grooms, setting clear expectations and maintaining a positive, high-performing culture
- Work closely with our veterinary and laboratory teams to support advanced reproductive procedures including semen collection, embryo transfer, foaling, and post-foaling mare and foal care
- Maintain exceptional standards of horse welfare, biosecurity, and yard organisation
- Ensure the smooth running of both yard and clinic environments, including specialist areas such as semen labs and embryo facilities
- Take ownership of stock control, facilities management, and operational efficiency
- Support a professional, welcoming client experience aligned with our brand
This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring initiative, resilience, and a commitment to doing things properly—every time.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Has significant experience in yard management or senior grooming roles
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of equine health, welfare, foaling management, and high-performance yard standards
- Has proven experience and confidence in stallion handling and foaling down mares safely and professionally
- Is confident leading, motivating, and developing a team
- Is highly organised, proactive, and solutions-focused
- Communicates clearly and professionally with both colleagues and clients
- Thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment
- Is aligned with our ethos of precision, professionalism, and pride in the job
Formal equine qualifications are valued, but attitude, experience, and leadership ability are paramount.
