We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kennel Manager to oversee the daily operations of our busy boarding kennels and day care facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, and maintaining excellent customer service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where animal care and client satisfaction are paramount. The Kennel Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the kennels, providing a safe and clean environment for all animals in our care.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of kennel staff, ensuring efficient operation and high standards of animal care
- Oversee the feeding, cleaning, and general well-being of animals housed in the kennels
- Manage bookings, appointments, and client communications to ensure excellent customer service
- Maintain detailed records of animals’ health, behaviour, and treatments and administering medication where required
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the facility
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks such as moving supplies or large animals when necessary
- Monitor the condition of kennels and equipment, organising repairs or replacements as needed
- Provide guidance and training to staff on animal handling, safety procedures, and customer interaction
The ideal candidate will have:-
- Previous experience working in kennels, animal care or a similar environment
- Supervisory or management experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- A calm, reliable and proactive approach
- A genuine passion for animal welfare
- Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota and cover shifts in case of emergencies
Qualifications
- Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Animal Care
- Level 3 qualification in Canine Care, Behaviour or Welfare (desirable)
- Canine First Aid Certificate
- Training and/or experience in canine body language and behaviour
