Description

We are recruiting for a Housing Support Officer to join our Housing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality housing-related support to young people and residents, empowering them to make positive changes, build independence, and successfully move towards independent living.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as the role involves liaising with external agencies, managing challenging behaviours, and responding to incidents effectively. You should have experience working with vulnerable individuals, such as young people or adults with complex needs, and be confident in promoting independence while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

We are looking for someone to support residents in maintaining their accommodation to a good standard while ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping in line with regulatory and organisational requirements. Above all, they will be committed to empowering residents to build essential life skills, achieve greater stability, and progress towards independent living.

The role requires someone with Minimum NVQ Level 3 standard qualification or equivalent in housing, social work or youth work or wiling to complete alongside their job role within the next twelve months.

It would be desirable for the successful candidate to have a full driving license with valid business use insurance.

Working Hours: 35 hours per week, typically worked Monday to Friday. Shifts may include 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM and 1:00 PM-9:00 PM, with flexibility when necessary.

Salary: £30,940 per annum

Key responsibilities:

Induct residents into their accommodation: ensuring the terms of the License agreement is understood and all health and safety matters are fully explained, evidenced via Resident Induction Checklist.
Understand and adhere to the Resident Journey policy and Resident journey guide for Housing staff. Which includes the Statement of Purpose.
Provide key 1-2-1 and group support to residents as well as other housing duties. This includes supporting to resident to appointments, assessments and meetings.
Update supporting documents including support plan, room checks, Outcome Star, Safety Risk Management Plans, Grab Packs, Move on plans, Personal Profiles and any other requested document within the required process. All documents to be updated to meet the required standards and within the listed deadline.
Document accurate records on the computerised data systems (Pyramid, Outcome Star, Log it) this includes providing statistics and reports as directed by Senior Management Team, including case studies.
Confident in lone-working and adhere to the lone-working policy.
Provide trauma informed support and take part in restorative practice.
Provide support for all residents at YMCA accommodation and support residents with resettlement including Move on plans.
Taking responsibility for the safety of all residents and adhere to procedures regarding contacting on-call staff, as and when required for emergency situations.
To have a full understanding of fire safety and evacuation procedures.
Adhere to all items, actions and matters within the Resident Journey Programme (RJP) policy, including providing support and assistance to the Housing Support Manager.
To maintain the House rules and refer to Behaviour Management policy and other relevant housing policies.
To be responsible and proactive in safeguarding adults, young people, and children at risk of harm in accordance with policies, procedures, along with local and national framework. This includes showing a commitment to promote organisation-wide awareness, understanding of safeguarding and undertaking best practice. In addition, carrying out our legal and moral duties when responding to related concerns, disclosures, or allegations appropriately.
To develop and maintain a good working knowledge of current welfare benefits and rights and entitlements of children and care leavers.
To promote and facilitate positive engagements and activities for residents on a monthly basis.
