As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an exceptional Automotive Performance & Development Coach to help drive performance, elevate capability, and enhance customer experience across our UK retail partner network.
This is a high-profile, field-based role suited to a commercially minded professional who enjoys influencing behavioural change, developing capability, and delivering measurable business impact. You'll have the opportunity to work with leading automotive brands, influence performance across a national retailer network, and make a tangible difference to people, customers, and business results.
As part of our Sales & Service Excellence Team, you will work directly with retailer leadership teams, aftersales departments, and front-line professionals to embed premium brand standards, improve performance, and create exceptional customer journeys.
We welcome applications from experienced automotive retail professionals looking to transition into a coaching and development role, as well as established learning and development practitioners, coaches, trainers, and performance consultants.
This is far more than a traditional training role. You will act as a trusted performance coach and business partner, strengthening leadership capability, influencing behavioural change, and helping retailers achieve sustainable commercial success. This is a UK field-based role offering a high degree of autonomy and variety, with no two weeks being the same.
Key Responsibilities
You will deliver high-impact coaching and development interventions across the retailer network, including:
- Coaching aftersales teams to improve service processes, customer experience, operational consistency, and commercial performance
- Supporting underperforming retailers through targeted performance improvement activity
- Analysing KPIs, operational data, and management information to identify root causes and performance opportunities
- Developing leaders and managers to strengthen coaching capability, accountability, and team effectiveness
- Delivering bespoke coaching interventions tailored to individual retailer and business needs
You may also be asked to support the wider team and business initiatives, including:
- New and used vehicle sales process and behavioural coaching aligned to premium brand standards
- Electric Vehicle (EV) sales and customer journey coaching to support the transition to electric mobility
- New starter onboarding and induction programmes
- Workshops focused on customer experience, sales excellence, and commercial performance
- Facilitating engaging one-to-one and group coaching sessions using Calex UK’s innovative Open Shop learning methodology
- Cross-functional retailer development projects and performance initiatives
About You

Essential
- Experience coaching, developing, leading, or improving the performance of individuals and teams
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to influence behavioural change and drive measurable performance improvement
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how development activity contributes to business outcomes
- Experience analysing performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Strong organisational and self-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a field-based role
- A passion for developing people and delivering engaging learning experiences
Desirable
- Automotive retail experience within sales, aftersales, customer experience, or retailer operations
- Experience coaching leaders, managers, or front-line teams
- Knowledge of customer journey, service excellence, or retail performance methodologies
- Experience supporting business performance improvement initiatives
- Exposure to premium brands or customer-focused environments
- Coaching, learning and development, or related professional qualifications

Salary & Benefits: Up to £50,000 dependant on experience. Contract: Permanent / Full Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 40 hours per week
Place of Work: This is a UK field-based role. Typically, you will conduct 3-4 retailer visits per week across the network, with overnight stays required where business needs dictate.
Pre-employment Checks: Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. This includes contacting all nominated referees, as well as checking candidate ID, driving licence and right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process). The nature of this role may necessitate that we undertake a DBS check.
