Safeguarding Case Management Group member
The Angling Trust, the national governing body for angling in England, is seeking volunteers with safeguarding expertise to join its Safeguarding Case Management Group (SCMG).
This is a rewarding opportunity to use your professional skills to make a real difference by supporting the effective management of safeguarding concerns relating to children and adults across the angling community.
What you’ll be doing
The successful candidate will work with the Angling Trust Safeguarding Case Management Group.
The Group provides independent advice, guidance and expert support to the Angling Trust Safeguarding Team. Members play a vital role in ensuring that safeguarding cases are handled fairly, proportionately, consistently and in line with best practice.
Main responsibilities
As a member of the Safeguarding Case Management Group, you will:

Promote cooperation, confidence and consistency in safeguarding decision-making

Provide independent, informed safeguarding advice based on your expertise and experience

Support the management of safeguarding concerns within appropriate timescales

Advise on safeguarding policy and practice arising from casework

Assist with decisions relating to adverse Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosures

Ensure consistency and proportionality in risk assessments

Recommend interim or permanent suspensions where required

Consider and recommend referrals to DBS, statutory agencies or relevant governing bodies

Offer expert safeguarding insight across the angling landscape
Working hours
The role is voluntary and conducted remotely, with meetings taking place every 6 weeks.
Who you are
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

Experience in safeguarding or a closely related field

Sound judgement grounded in safeguarding legislation, policy and evidence

Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex information

Experience of risk assessment and proportionate decision-making

A fair, child- and adult-at-risk–focused approach

Integrity and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

A collaborative mindset and confidence working as part of a specialist group
