The Role
We are currently seeking a Flat Roofing Estimator to join our team at our Bedford head office.
Core Office Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (1-hour lunch)
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and review site surveys and material take-offs
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for roofing projects
- Obtain, review, and analyse subcontractor quotations
- Participate in contract review meetings with the Contracts Department
- Assess and recommend appropriate margin levels for projects
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail while working to tight deadlines
Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirement:
Applicants must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience specifically in roofing estimating (ideally flat roofing). This is a mandatory requirement, and candidates must be able to clearly demonstrate their experience, including examples of previous estimating work, project involvement, and responsibilities within a roofing environment.
This role is primarily office-based; however, the successful candidate will complete an initial training period within the Surveying Department, including site visits to build practical experience.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 1 year’s roofing estimating experience (essential and demonstrable)
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Excellent numerical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise, organise, and manage workloads effectively
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Full UK driving licence (required)
- Comfortable working at heights
- DBS check (facilitated by the company)
