With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £5bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, the Strategic Project team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer (Development) to join our Transmission Operations Planning team. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of operational and commercial activities across Transmission Operations, ensuring effective system processes, planning, and coordination of maintenance and fault activities.
You will play a key role in managing ERP release strategies, commercial activities and enabling the successful delivery of inspection, maintenance (I&M), and fault-related activities.
What you’ll be doing
Lead on I&M ERP system release strategy, ensuring alignment with operational requirements working closely with Substation, Circuit and Protection team.
Provide support across Transmission Operations for, Plant Maintenance Orders (PMOs), Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders (Indirect and Direct Purchases), Fault and I&M activities.
Deliver monthly Transmission Operations (TOps) commercial processes.
Take ownership of end-to-end I&M system processes, ensuring efficiency and compliance .
Support the Operations Planning Team and wider department with NAMS queries, scheduled reporting and performance outputs and ystem, data and process improvement activities.
Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders and ensure full compliance with SPEN H&S and Procurement policies and procedures.
Contribute as a proactive and collaborative member of the Transmission Operations & Maintenance team.
What you’ll bring
Proven experience/expert knowledge in design of Protection and Control equipment and associated ancillaries at voltages of 33kV to 400kV.
Ability to implement, apply and promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice in a design environment.
Ability to manage under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with a diverse and demanding workload.
Experience developing detailed design of substation protection and control systems, including drawings, settings calculations and development of IED settings/configuration files.
Experience in working in a dynamic environment and ensuring delivery of engineering outputs.
Ability to operate in an environment of uncertainty and incomplete information and make well-reasoned decisions.
Lead by example and drive transformational change.
Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to apply persuasive influence to drive decisions through engineering analysis.
To be successful, as minimum you will need to demonstrate:
Experience working within Transmission, Utilities, or Asset Management environment.
Strong understanding of maintenance planning systems (I&M / ERP / SAP-type systems), work order and purchasing processes.
Ability to manage end-to-end operational processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to assess, prioritise and confidently make the right decisions in a dynamic service environment whilst anticipating issues and putting in place effective strategies to manage these.
