Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate Junior / Commis Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and enthusiasm in food preparation and production, with a keen eye for detail. As a Junior / Commis Chef, you will play a crucial role in suporting the senior kitchen staff. Your enthusiasm to learn and progress will be supported by our Head Chef passing on skills and passion where possible.

Duties

Food Preparation: Assisting in preparing ingredients like chopping, peeling, and washing vegetables, and seasoning meats.
Assisting Senior Chefs: Working under the guidance of a Station Chef or Chef de Partie, learning specific cooking techniques and procedures.
Plating and Presentation: Ensuring food is presented attractively according to the chef's instructions.
Hygiene and Sanitation: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations.
Stock Management: Assisting with inventory, receiving deliveries, and rotating stock to minimize waste.
Basic Sauce and Salad Preparation: Preparing simple sauces and salads as directed by senior chefs.
Learning and Development: Absorbing knowledge about different cooking methods, recipes, and kitchen procedures.

Requirements

Basic Culinary Skills: Understanding of food preparation techniques, hygiene, and safety.
Communication Skills: Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively with the team, and ask clarifying questions.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in measurements, plating, and food preparation.
Teamwork: Working effectively with others in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Physical Stamina: Being able to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
Eagerness to Learn: A positive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
