CarePoint Housing is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and motivated Supported Housing Team Leader to join our growing Housing Team. The Supported Housing Team Leader will work closely with the Housing Management teams, external agencies, and support staff to oversee daily service delivery, maintain high professional standards, and promote positive outcomes for service users.
About the Role
The Supported Housing Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of supported housing services and leading a team of Supported Housing Officers and Support staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred support. The role focuses on ensuring service users receive coordinated support that promotes tenancy sustainment, wellbeing, safety, independence, and progression. The postholder will support vulnerable adults who may have experienced homelessness, substance misuse, mental health challenges, social exclusion, or other complex needs. The Supported Housing Team Leader will ensure services operate in line with safeguarding responsibilities, contractual requirements, organisational policies, and best practice standards. The role also involves staff supervision, service monitoring, partnership working, and contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of services. This role requires a compassionate, resilient, and organised individual with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the confidence to manage complex situations professionally and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Leadership & Team Management
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and leadership to Support Workers and Housing Support staff.
- Support the recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing development of staff members.
- Conduct regular supervision sessions, reflective practice meetings, and annual appraisals.
- Monitor staffing levels and support effective rota management and service cover.
- Promote a positive, professional, and supportive team culture.
- Identify staff training and development needs and contribute to workforce development planning.
- Support staff in managing challenging situations and maintaining professional boundaries.
Support Delivery & Service User Wellbeing
- Ensure all service users receive high-quality, person-centred support tailored to their individual needs.
- Oversee the completion and regular review of support plans, risk assessments, and wellbeing plans.
- Support staff to deliver effective emotional, practical, and motivational support to service users.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with service users, promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion.
- Coordinate referrals, move-ins, resettlement planning, and move-on support.
- Encourage service users to engage with statutory services, healthcare providers, and community resources.
- Ensure cultural, language, and diversity needs are recognised and appropriately supported.
- Support early intervention during periods of crisis, safeguarding concern, or tenancy risk.
Safeguarding & Risk Management
- Lead on safeguarding responsibilities within the service and ensure concerns are identified, managed, and escalated appropriately.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure staff understand safeguarding procedures and professional responsibilities.
- Monitor and review risk management processes to maintain a safe environment for service users, staff, and visitors.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, complaints, and challenging behaviour.
Housing & Property Management
- Work collaboratively with Housing Management and Maintenance teams to ensure properties remain safe, compliant, clean, and well-maintained.
- Support service users in understanding and complying with licence agreements and house rules.
- Monitor occupancy levels, void management, and property standards.
- Promote positive community relationships and respond appropriately to neighbourhood concerns and anti-social behaviour issues.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed across all supported housing settings.
Recording, Administration & Finance
- Oversee accurate and timely recording of all support activities, incidents, and case notes.
- Monitor occupancy records, support documentation, and communication systems to ensure compliance and service quality.
- Maintain accurate records relating to service charges, benefit entitlements, and housing-related financial matters.
- Support staff to maintain high standards of administration and record keeping.
- Ensure confidentiality and GDPR requirements are upheld at all times.
- Contribute to monitoring contractual requirements, KPIs, and service performance targets.
Partnership & Multi-Agency Working
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, health professionals, probation services, support agencies, and community organisations.
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, safeguarding meetings, and professional forums.
- Promote the service locally and maintain effective referral pathways.
- Support collaborative working to achieve positive outcomes for service users.
Service Development & Quality Improvement
- Support the implementation of organisational policies, procedures, and best practice standards.
- Keep up to date with legislation, sector guidance, and developments within supported housing and homelessness services.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and quality assurance processes.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance monitoring activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and sector networking events.
General Responsibilities

Person Specification Essential Criteria
- Experience supervising or leading staff within supported housing, homelessness, social care, or related services.
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults or individuals with complex needs.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, housing support, and risk management practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage challenging situations and support individuals in crisis.
- Experience developing and reviewing support plans and risk assessments.
- Good understanding of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit housing costs, and welfare-related processes.
- Strong organisational, administrative, and record-keeping skills.
- Competent IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Understanding of confidentiality, GDPR, and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within supported housing or homelessness accommodation services.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and strengths-based approaches.
- Experience supporting individuals affected by substance misuse, mental health challenges, or offending behaviour.
- Experience managing referrals, occupancy, and housing-related support services.
- Knowledge of housing management processes and supported accommodation standards.
