The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Public Health team which sits within the Public Health & Communities Directorate. We are looking to appoint a Public Health Commissioning and Improvement Manager as we work together to improve health outcomes for residents.
Rochdale Borough has a strong history of cooperation and we seek a dynamic and highly motivated candidate who will work well with a range of partners on our transformational programmes.
Rochdale is a forward-thinking borough and our Public Health team is at the forefront, tackling key issues like poverty, cardiovascular disease, and health inequalities. You'll collaborate with partner organisations and local communities on ground-breaking initiatives to create healthier neighbourhoods for all.
The Public Health Commissioning Team is fully integrated within the wider Public Health team which means that, whilst this is predominantly a commissioning-focused role, there is opportunity to influence the full remit of public health working closely with the Public Health Specialists and Programme Officers. This is a fantastic chance to work in a role improving population health outcomes in an area with real needs, as well as real assets.
The role will involve leading service design and performance management of high-quality public health services. There will also be the opportunity to lead procurement activity with an emphasis on ensuring the effective delivery of outcomes and value for money. It also offers opportunities for personal/professional development and a chance for someone to bring their own skills, knowledge and experiences to enhance an already high performing team.
You will be joining a friendly team with a great mix of skills and experience and leaders who encourage and support development. Recruitment will be on Rochdale Borough Council terms and conditions of employment.
Areas
The role will work across drug and alcohol services, the voluntary sector infrastructure service, specialist physical activity as well as supporting wider transformational programmes such as Live Well, Enhanced Live Well and Families First.
This is not an exhaustive list of the job areas. The role will have flexibility, and it is likely that you will have the opportunity to be involved in other areas of public health.
About You
The post holder will be an enthusiastic individual with experience of either working in Public Health or Public Health related areas. You will have experience of leading processes throughout the commissioning cycle and a collaborative approach that enables you to build robust working relationships with partner organisations and internally. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a track record of working with partners to improve outcomes.
You will use your understanding of financial management to ensure that you achieve best value for money whilst delivering excellent public health outcomes. You’ll be self-motivated and innovative whilst also working well within a team. You will be able to write clearly and produce reports for a variety of audiences.
We want someone with a desire to make a real difference to people’s lives, and this role at Rochdale Borough Council will give you the chance to do this. We’re a really nice team, come join us!
Please ensure that alongside your CV that you include a cover letter which demonstrates how you meet the criteria in the person specification.
If you have completed the GM Elevate (Leadership Development) Programme, please indicate this within the ‘About You’ or ‘Supporting Statement’ section of your application.
