Administrative Assistant – HR (Admin & Clerical)

Hours: 37 Hours Per Week, Mon – Fri
Contract: 14 Week Temporary Contract
Location: Sandford Road, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 6DT
Rate: £12.55 per hour PAYE
Work Pattern: 3 days office-based, 2 days home working

We're recruiting an Administrative Assistant to provide essential support to the HR Operations team at Essex Police. This is a varied role, ideal for someone organised, reliable, and confident working across multiple HR disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

As an Administrative Assistant, you'll provide clerical and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of HR operations, including job evaluation processes, grievance administration, and maintaining accurate records and systems.

What You'll Be Doing

Arranging and organising job evaluation panels, distributing documentation, and maintaining records
Allocating job analysis requests, liaising with managers and HR Advisors to produce accurate documentation
Auditing and updating HR systems, competency frameworks, and SharePoint pages
Providing general administrative support including correspondence, filing, diary management, and meeting minutes
Maintaining spreadsheets and management information relating to pay and benefits
Handling telephone calls and enquiries professionally, ensuring confidentiality
Supporting grievance administration by logging, distributing, and maintaining accurate records

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone proactive, organised, and confident in HR administration.

You'll ideally have:

GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics
Knowledge of HR competency frameworks and job evaluation processes
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Practical experience with spreadsheets, databases, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to manage workload independently while handling interruptions
Professional communication skills and discretion when handling sensitive information
