Postdoctoral Research Associate
This innovate UK funded full-time post is available from 1 August 2026 on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
The starting salary will be from £34,610 on Grade E for the Postdoctoral Research Associate level depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
The Role

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Prof. Zhong Fan. The successful applicant will conduct cutting edge research on developing intelligent AI solutions for energy systems in the Energy Catalyst programme.
The post will carry out research in the application of advanced AI technologies to energy systems and publish in top energy and AI conferences / journals.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants should have strong background in energy system modelling, NILM, with good knowledge of modern AI techniques.
