About the School:
Talocher School is a specialist school for girls and boys aged 7 to 19 who have Additional Learning Needs (ALN). We currently have registration for 60 students. The school provides a warm, welcoming and flexible environment for young people who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their needs.
What you'll be doing:

Delivering engaging English lessons across a range of levels, bringing creativity and energy into the classroom

Planning and delivery of inspiring lessons that spark curiosity and build confidence in every learner

Using tailored strategies to support learners with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

Creating a positive, inclusive and encouraging environment for students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD and SEMH
-
Embracing a trauma-informed approach, helping every learner feel safe, supported and ready to thrive

Monitoring progress, celebrate achievements and adapt teaching to help every student reach their full potential
What you'll bring:

Proven experience teaching English across multiple levels (essential)
-
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, QTS or equivalent)
-
English-related qualification (e.g. English degree or Level 3+ equivalent)
-
Strong understanding of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
-
Experience supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD and SEMH (desirable but we’d love to see it!)

Awareness or training in Trauma Informed Practice (a big plus!)

A passion for inclusive education, with the ability to adapt and bring out the best in every learner
A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for making a difference
