We're Newcastle's largest artisan bakery with three sites in the city. We bake from our production site in Gosforth where this role is based and we've been producing high quality artisan breads, viennoiserie, cakes and savouries in the city since 2012.
Job description
We're looking for an experienced and passionate Artisan Baker Supervisor to join our bakery team. Working closely with our Head Baker, you'll play a key role in maintaining exceptional product quality, supporting and leading the baking team, and helping drive innovation and development across our range.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled baker with solid experience in artisan bread & viennoiserie production and a genuine passion for the craft.
Duties:
- Work alongside the Head Baker to ensure consistent quality and production standards across all bakery products.
- Lead and support the bakery team during daily production.
- Help maintain a positive, motivated, and high-performing team culture.
- Oversee production schedules and ensure efficient workflow.
- Uphold food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Contribute ideas for product development, process improvements, and innovation.
- Act as a role model for bakery standards, craftsmanship, and teamwork.
About you:
- You MUST HAVE several years of experience in artisan bread baking.
- A strong experience working with sourdough and viennoiserie production is a must and a pastry background desired.
- Previous experience leading or supervising bakery teams.
- Passionate about artisan baking and committed to producing exceptional products.
- Is observant, organised, and able to maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment.
- Brings energy, enthusiasm, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Is comfortable motivating and supporting colleagues while maintaining team morale.
- Can quickly integrate into an experienced team and contribute from day one.
Early starts and flexibility across the working week are a must, regular Saturday working is expected but we always close on a Sunday.
