About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our growing team at Kraken Works Limited. This role is key to ensuring our products, processes, and systems meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and performance.
You will take ownership of quality assurance activities across the business, working closely with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and minimise quality escapes. Acting as a deputy to the Quality Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining and improving our Quality Management System (QMS).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned audits and compliance activities across processes, products, and operations, including new product introductions (NPI).
- Perform operational surveillance to promote best practice and identify areas for improvement.
- Support departments across the business with QMS adherence and product investigations, including root cause analysis and 8D problem-solving.
- Ensure corrective and preventative actions are implemented effectively and on time.
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including Quality Management Plans and procedures in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
- Support the management of non-conformance reporting systems.
- Assist with company approvals and certification processes for both new and existing products.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate across teams to improve customer satisfaction and quality performance.
- Act as Deputy to the Quality Manager when required.
- Ensure compliance with QMS, SMS, EMS, and integrated business systems.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capability
- Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO 9001)
- Understanding of engineering, design, manufacturing, or maintenance environments
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Knowledge of internal and external auditing processes
Essential Qualifications
- HNC (or equivalent qualification)
- Training or experience in Quality Management Systems
- Training in Root Cause Analysis / Corrective Action methodologies
- Internal Auditor qualification or equivalent auditing experience
Desirable
- Experience within aerospace or aeronautical environments
- Membership of a professional body (e.g. CQI)
- Knowledge of modern quality tools and techniques
- Experience in Production, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO)
- Strong data analysis and trend identification skills
