Role Purpose
As a Business Development Manager, you will drive the growth of SaaS revenues by identifying and building relationships with key decision-makers within a defined customer base. This outbound role involves developing pipeline, building market understanding, and working towards clear sales targets.
You’ll deliver software demonstrations to prospective customers and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
What you’ll be doing
Working towards sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs)
Building and managing an outbound sales pipeline
Delivering high-quality product demonstrations using a value-based approach
Maintaining accurate CRM records, including revenue forecasting
Developing market and product knowledge, including competitor awareness
Engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers to secure deals
Collaborating with the wider sales team to identify cross-sell opportunities
Sharing best practice and supporting colleagues across the team
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience
Experience in an outbound sales role, with a track record of achieving targets
Strong communication and influencing skills, particularly with senior stakeholders
A proactive and resilient approach in a fast-paced environment
Good market and product awareness, with an ability to learn and demonstrate software solutions
Strong attention to detail, with effective time management and CRM discipline
A collaborative mindset and focus on customer satisfaction
Knowledge
Familiarity with SaaS solutions is desirable
Understanding of market trends and customer needs is beneficial
Skills
Customer Focus: Ability to build relationships and understand the needs of different educational institutions
Sales Approach: Comfortable using a consultative, value-based sales approach
Communication: Clear and effective communicator, with strong listening skills
Influencing Skills: Able to adapt style to different stakeholders
Attention to Detail: Strong organisation and ability to manage CRM and forecasts accurately
