We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic CNC Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in precision engineering and machining. Under the guidance of experienced machinists, you will learn how to operate, set up, and maintain CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines while gaining valuable hands-on experience of CNC Turning and CNC Milling (vertical) using 3 and 5-Axis machinery whilst working towards relevant qualifications. You will also have the opportunity to support research and development (R&D) projects, helping to manufacture and test prototype components and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Tasks:
- Learn to safely set and operate machines while maintaining quality standards to achieve first off approval.
- Assist with machine setup, tooling changes, and routine maintenance.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment.
- Support experienced machinists in producing high-quality parts to specification.
- Follow company quality standards and health and safety procedures at all times.
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and safe.
- Record production data and complete apprenticeship training requirements.
- Develop an understanding of CNC programming, tooling, and machining processes.

- Updating production management documentation using ERP system
- Work alongside engineers to trial new machining methods, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Support product development by producing one-off and low-volume prototype parts.

National Living Wage (21 and over): £12.71 / £457.56 per week
18 to 20-year-old rate: £10.85/ £390.60 per week
Under 18-year-old rate: £8.00 / £288.00 per week

Skills
Good hand skills – practical skills, ability to understand and communicate technical information and work in a team. Though engineering is often viewed in purely technical terms, you must also have strong communication and teamwork skills.
Mechanical engineers are, above all else, problem solvers. They use maths and analytical abilities to spot problems and resolve them. This is important in the development process so you can ensure that the devices you create do what clients need them to do.

5 x GCSE at Grade 4/5 (C) and above including English and maths.
Qualifications: Desirable
Science/ICT an advantage.
Training to be provided:
On completion of the apprenticeship, you will have achieved the following qualifications;
- EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge) Level: 3
- Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering NVQ (Level 3 Diploma)
The final apprenticeship completion certificate will be issued on achievement of the above qualification and successful completion of end point assessment.
