About the role
The Head of Procurement – Power T&D is a core member of the Business Unit Senior Leadership Team and the UK Procurement Leadership Team, responsible for leading procurement and supply chain strategy to support the delivery of business objectives, growth and performance.
The role is accountable for ensuring that supply chain capability, capacity and commercial outcomes enable the successful delivery of the PT&D pipeline, creating sustainable competitive advantage through strategic supplier relationships, market insight and innovative supply chain solutions.
Operating as a senior business leader, the Head of Procurement will contribute to wider business strategy, decision-making and problem solving beyond the functional remit, bringing a supply chain and commercial perspective to complex business challenges.
The role also plays a key leadership role across the UK Procurement function, actively contributing to category council activity, cross-business initiatives and the ongoing development of procurement capability, standards and strategy.
What you'll be doing
- Act as a senior leader within the Power T&D business, contributing to business-wide strategy, performance management, risk mitigation and continuous improvement beyond the procurement function.
- Lead the development and delivery of a market-leading procurement and supply chain strategy aligned to business objectives, growth plans and customer requirements.
- Provide strategic oversight of programme and portfolio level demand, ensuring supply chain capability and capacity are developed in line with current and future workload.
- Own senior relationships with key strategic suppliers and customers, representing the business in high-level discussions and ensuring strong, collaborative and performance-driven partnerships.
- Act as the escalation point for significant supply chain, subcontractor and commercial issues across the business, providing leadership and resolution on complex and high-risk matters.
- Support key work winning and preconstruction activity as the strategic procurement lead, shaping supply chain solutions and contributing to winning strategies on major bids.
- Define and oversee procurement and supply chain governance across the business, working in close partnership with Commercial leadership to ensure effective control, compliance and risk management, including subcontract procurement.
- Lead the development and implementation of category management strategies that secure critical resources, optimise value and drive competitive advantage.
- Identify and manage supply chain risks, market pressures and capacity constraints, implementing mitigation strategies to ensure resilience and continuity of supply.
- Lead a large, high-performing, geographically dispersed procurement and supply chain function (c.50 people), including Senior Procurement Managers across Scotland and England and a central Supply Chain Management team.
- Develop leadership capability within the team, coaching and mentoring senior managers to build a strong talent pipeline and succession plan.
- Ensure alignment with UK Procurement strategy, standards and tools, actively contributing to UK-wide initiatives and category councils to drive consistency and best practice.
- Drive performance management, reporting and continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain activity, ensuring delivery of value, efficiency and compliance.
Who we're looking for
- Proven experience operating at senior leadership level within a complex, project-based or infrastructure business, with the ability to contribute to broader business strategy and decision-making.
- Demonstrable track record of leading large, geographically dispersed procurement and supply chain teams through senior managers, driving performance through a leader-of-leaders model.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, challenge and engage senior internal stakeholders, customers and strategic suppliers.
- Extensive experience in procurement, supply chain management and category strategy, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and complex commercial negotiations.

- Proven ability to develop and execute long-term supply chain strategies aligned to business growth and operational delivery requirements.
- Strong commercial acumen with a clear focus on value creation, margin improvement and risk mitigation.
- Experience of working within structured governance environments, with a pragmatic but disciplined approach to compliance and control.
