Introduction
This role will see you supporting our cook with cleaning and stock management duties, prepare tasty, nutritious meals that our residents will enjoy; you will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of each meal time preparing the dining room, assisting our residents with their meals and ensuring everything is clean and tidy. This position will include weekends, and cover for sickness and holidays when necessary.
What will you be doing?
Your mains responsibilities will be:
- To assist with the preparation and provision of a high standard catering service in the Home.
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling dishes.
- Carry out any general dining room duties i.e. laying, waiting at and clearing tables involving and encouraging service users if they wish to.
- Transport of meals to dining room and other eating locations as required.
- Washing-up of all items used in the kitchen area and maintaining cooking and storage areas in a clean and tidy state in line with cleaning schedules.
- Simple preparation of food as required by the Cook and needs of the service users.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out rubbish
- Follow the HACCAP’s processes
- Follow nutritional and hydration care plans
- Assist with inventory management by restocking supplies and monitoring stock levels
- Assist with meal preparation for events service as needed
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Adhere to food safety and guidelines at all times

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation methods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and guidelines is a plus.
- Culinary or relevant training is a bonus
Where you will be working
You will be working at one of our care homes in Clifton upon Dunsmore area.
The role will be accountable to the Home Manager reporting through the Homes Cook as appropriate
