Join Our Growing Family Team

Our Family Team is one of the most respected and well-established practices in the region, supporting clients through some of the most important and sensitive moments in their lives. As demand for our services continues to grow, we are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our expanding team and play a key role in supporting our Partners and Senior Associates.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a professional, fast-paced environment and wants to make a genuine difference to people facing challenging family situations.

Based primarily in our Lymington office, you will also be required to work whole or part days from our Lyndhurst office as business needs require. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle will therefore be essential.

About the Role

As a Legal Assistant, you will be at the heart of the Family Team, helping to ensure matters run smoothly and efficiently. You will provide high-quality administrative and procedural support to Partners and Senior Associates, helping them deliver exceptional client service.

Family law is often emotional and complex for the individuals involved, so this role requires someone who combines excellent organisational skills with empathy, resilience and a calm, professional approach.

You will regularly support clients who may be experiencing difficult personal circumstances and will play an important part in helping them feel reassured and supported throughout their journey with us.

What You'll Be Doing

Client Support

· Acting as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for clients.

· Communicating confidently by telephone, email and in person.

· Supporting client appointments, onboarding processes and ID checks.

· Providing clear procedural updates and ensuring clients receive excellent service throughout their matter.

Matter and Document Management

· Preparing and organising files, bundles, document packs and correspondence.

· Managing file opening and closing procedures.

· Maintaining accurate, organised and audit-ready files.

· Tracking key deadlines, outstanding actions and procedural requirements.

· Ensuring documents and communications are saved and recorded correctly.

Administrative Support

· Managing diaries, appointments and meetings for fee earners.

· Supporting billing processes and maintaining accurate records.

· Assisting with document production, formatting, scanning and electronic filing.

· Liaising with clients, courts and third parties as required.

Team Support

· Occasionally supporting a partner/senior associate in court away from the office

· Working collaboratively with colleagues across the team.

· Supporting Partners and Senior Associates during busy periods.

· Contributing to a positive, professional and supportive working environment.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and enjoys working as part of a team.

Ideally, you will have:

· Previous experience working in a law firm.

· Experience within a Family Law department (preferred but not essential).

· Excellent administration and organisational skills.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

· Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach.

· Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office.

· The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Importantly, you will also have:

· Empathy and emotional intelligence.

· The resilience to support clients who may be experiencing difficult life events.

· A calm and professional approach under pressure.

· A strong understanding of confidentiality and discretion.
