Senior Wills, Trusts and Probate Lawyer
Gosport | Full time, office based | £58,000 to £75,000 depending on experience
RecQuest is recruiting on behalf of a boutique South Coast law firm that is looking to appoint a Senior Wills, Trusts and Probate Lawyer to join its Gosport office.
This is a senior private client opportunity with real substance. You would be joining a well established local practice, working alongside a highly experienced Head of Department with a strong reputation in Gosport and long standing relationships with local families.
The role would suit an experienced private client lawyer who wants to be visible, trusted and genuinely valued by clients, rather than sitting behind someone else’s name on the file. The firm’s work is rooted in proper client care, technical accuracy and long term relationships, particularly with elderly and vulnerable clients.
You will be handling a broad private client caseload, with a mix of new instructions, repeat clients and multi generational family relationships. There is also scope to build your own profile in the local community and become a key senior contact within the department.
The role
You will work across a varied wills, trusts and probate caseload. Depending on your background, matters are likely to include:
- Will drafting
- Estate administration
- Probate matters, including more complex estates
- Trusts advice and administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Elderly and vulnerable client work
- Inheritance and succession planning
- Client meetings and occasional home visits where appropriate
- Supporting the continued growth and reputation of the private client department
This is a role for someone who can manage matters independently, handle client relationships with care, and take responsibility for both the technical and personal side of private client work.
About you
The firm is looking for an experienced private client lawyer, ideally with at least 5 years’ post qualification experience or equivalent.
You will need to be:
- Experienced in wills, trusts, probate and estate administration
- Confident managing files independently, including more complex matters
- Comfortable advising elderly and vulnerable clients with patience and care
- Technically strong and attentive to compliance
- STEP qualified, working towards STEP, or genuinely interested in developing in that direction
- Able to build trust with clients and professional contacts
- Willing to be visible in the local community
- Happy to work full time from the Gosport office
The honest part
This is a fully office based role in Gosport. It is not hybrid or remote. There may also be occasional home visits to clients where appropriate.
