LIFELINE: an ALTERNATIVE PROVISION for young people finding it hard to identify the right path. Join our reflective, value-led team, where you will see career development, make a real difference, and be supported every step of the way. Our intrinsic values are kindness, positivity, acceptance, integrity, aspiration and balance.

Lifeline is a NEW provision established under the umbrella business of Bettws Lifehouse, a well known and respected SEN provider. The AP, however, is a stand alone offer with an individual contract pertaining to this business.

We’re looking for mentors who bring heart, curiosity and energy to a team dedicated to helping young people take the first steps towards positive change in their lives. You will help them to navigate through the challenges of education, friendships, family and society. You will provide or signpost professional services such as mentoring and coaching, learning support, occupational therapy, communication and language therapy, holistic therapies, careers advice and guidance, diet and sleep advice, and personal training for health and fitness. This particular post is an opportunity for someone with an interest in helping those disengaged with education to gain access to the community by finding activities and opportunities to expand their experiences. We have learners who would enjoy more physical, outdoor options including sports, hiking and forest school. They need support to leave their homes and experience the community alongside a trusted adult.

Your personality and creativity will be key in shaping their future and you will see the positive impact of your contribution every day.

You will have interest and experience in a wide variety of areas that will encourage natural curiosity and widen the world of the people you work with. Bring your unique self to enhance the life experience of others.

Whilst previous experience is desirable, our main priority for this job role is to find colleagues with values and attitudes that match our own. Your skills will help identify what are the factors in play, what is the situation, the blocks and then ultimately the motivators to facilitate change. Our goals for your learners are for them to

living their life with more independence
feeling healthy and happy
enjoying a fuller and richer life
being school or college ready

Our job is to walk alongside them, until they are ready and able to walk alone.

Responsibilities

Provide mentorship and guidance to children and young people, fostering their personal and academic growth.
Engage in youth work activities that promote leadership and teamwork.
Utilize teaching skills to develop and implement educational programs tailored to individual needs.
Support children with special education requirements, ensuring an inclusive environment.
Collaborate with parents and community members to enhance support networks for children.

The successful candidates will be based at our Lifeline centre in Shrewsbury and surrounding areas, normally within Shropshire. You will be prepared for lone working in the local community, homes, schools and colleges of the young people. The support is always shaped by the individual so no two days will be the same. Young people may be referred by their school or college, the local authority, through education or social care, or by their own families.

Experience working in either education, health or social care would be beneficial.

You will need to be a confident driver with your own car which you will be prepared to use for work purposes. Mileage will be paid at 50ppm. You will need to have appropriate references and a clean DBS for working with vulnerable children and adults.
