The Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant / Client Operations Lead to join our team in a hybrid capacity based out of Newport.
This role sits right at the heart of our business. You won’t just be sitting in a corner plugging in numbers; you will be looking after a dedicated portfolio of clients, owning their accounts end-to-end, and making sure everything runs seamlessly from onboarding all the way through to year-end.
What You’ll Be Doing (Duties)
- Client Portfolio Ownership: Manage and oversee a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring total accuracy and compliance while delivering a proactive, exceptional service.
- End-to-End Accounting: Prepare, review, and analyse financial statements, management accounts, and UK tax returns using modern cloud platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
- Workflow Optimization: Keep the engine room running smoothly by assisting with financial workflows, onboarding new clients, and handling accounts payable and vendor reconciliations.
- Team Mentorship: Guide, mentor, and foster the professional development of our junior accounting staff.
- Strategic Advice: Collaborate directly with clients to untangle financial discrepancies and provide expert, actionable advice to help their businesses scale.
About You (Experience & Qualifications)
You’ll be a great fit for the team if you:
- Are ACA / ACCA qualified (or very close to it) with solid, practical UK tax and accounts experience.
- Actually enjoy talking to clients and building real relationships—you care about the story behind the numbers.
- Are organized enough to keep a lot of plates spinning without dropping any.
- Have a strong grasp of modern cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and love using tech to make work cleaner.
- Thrive in a dynamic environment and like the idea of working alongside ambitious businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Have previous experience mentoring or supervising junior team members (highly desirable).
