Full job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Wellbeing Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting blind and partially sighted people across Cornwall. As a key point of contact for both clients and volunteers, you will help individuals navigate benefit applications, build and inspire a committed volunteer team, and design and deliver activities that promote physical health, mobility and emotional wellbeing. From organising inclusive social and sport sessions to administering targeted welfare support, this is a varied and rewarding role that sits at the heart of our services and works closely with the wider projects team to make a real difference to people’s lives.

What can you expect from the role?

This role suits someone who is highly organised, people‑focused and motivated by making a real difference. You will be confident building relationships, listening with empathy and working with a wide range of people. You’ll enjoy a fast‑paced and varied role, working both independently and as part of a supportive team. A background in customer‑facing roles such as hospitality, support work, counselling or similar would be an advantage.

You will be creative, solutions-focused and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of others. Experience or training in hospitality, psychology or another people-focused field may be helpful, but is not essential. You will value teamwork, share our charity’s values and bring professionalism, warmth and a positive sense of humour to everything you do. iSightCornwall offers a collaborative environment where you will work alongside committed and supportive colleagues with a shared purpose.

Key responsibilities

Build strong, trusting relationships with clients and volunteers and deliver excellent customer service
Travel across Cornwall to support and oversee our volunteer‑led clubs and activities
Coordinate inclusive social and physical activities that support wellbeing
Manage welfare support administration including Blue Badge, PIP and Access to Work applications
Manage the full volunteer lifecycle, including handling enquiries, recruitment, safer onboarding and DBS checks, induction and training, matching volunteers to suitable roles, maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR, and providing ongoing support and engagement
Proactively contact clients, identify their needs and refer them to the most appropriate services
Maintain accurate and confidential records using the CRM system and office software
Process donations, payments and requests for additional client services as required

What we need from you

You will bring strong experience from a client‑facing or customer service role. You be comfortable working as part of a team while also managing your own workload independently. This is a varied role, so you’ll need to think on your feet, respond calmly to different situations and approach challenges with initiative and creativity.

You will be outgoing, approachable and emotionally aware, with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in supporting others. You’ll work collaboratively towards shared goals, remain professional under pressure and adapt easily to change.

You do not need previous charity or sight‑loss experience for this role. We provide comprehensive training, a structured induction and ongoing support. You will also have access to dedicated colleagues who manage specialist support services, enabling you to confidently signpost clients when needed.
