Overview:
Expleo is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Integration Engineer to support a major DAL D to DAL A software assurance uplift programme. The role focuses on analysis and maintenance of an existing embedded software baseline, implementation standards compliance, static analysis assessment, controlled code modification and integration support.
Working within a multidisciplinary assurance team, the successful candidate will assess existing software implementations against newly developed Low-Level Requirements (LLRs), support issue resolution activities, execute static analysis campaigns and undertake controlled software changes where required. The role will also support integration and verification activities using BAE Systems development environments and evaluation hardware.
This is not a greenfield software development role. Instead, it is centred on the controlled evolution, assessment and assurance of an existing DAL D baseline to support DAL A certification objectives. The RFQ specifically identifies implementation review, Polyspace analysis, code standards compliance, traceability and integration testing as key activities.
This role is based full-time on-site, working directly alongside customer engineering and assurance teams throughout programme execution.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse existing embedded software implementation against approved requirements and design artefacts.
-
Develop and maintain implementation standards supporting DAL A assurance objectives.
-
Assess reused and legacy software components for standards compliance.
-
Execute and triage Polyspace BugFinder and CodeProver analysis results.
-
Support resolution of software defects, implementation inconsistencies and compliance issues.
-
Maintain implementation traceability to Low-Level Requirements.
-
Support formal software reviews and independent technical assessments.
-
Implement approved software changes under strict configuration control.
-
Conduct software integration on STM32-based evaluation hardware.
-
Support debugging and issue investigation activities.
-
Work with verification engineers to resolve test and coverage findings.
-
Maintain software repositories and change records within approved development environments.
-
Contribute to compliance evidence, review records and assurance artefacts.
-
Support customer reviews and technical walkthroughs where required.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
-
Embedded software development background.
-
Formal software engineering training desirable.

Desired skills:
- STM32 microcontroller experience.
-

-
Experience supporting avionics, aerospace or defence projects.
-
Awareness of software traceability and certification evidence generation.
Experience:
- Experience maintaining or enhancing embedded software operating under formal configuration control.
-
Experience investigating and resolving software implementation issues within regulated environments.
-
Experience integrating embedded software onto target or representative hardware platforms.
-
Experience supporting static analysis and code quality assessment activities.
-
Experience participating in formal software reviews and engineering governance processes.
-
Experience within safety-critical, aerospace, defence, rail, automotive or similar regulated industries is desirable.
