Transport & Machinery Operator (Class 1 CE)
Bridgend, South Wales
Salary: £40,000–£55,000 per year + Performance Bonus + Business Development Bonus
We are an established and growing agricultural and contracting business operating throughout the UK. Due to continued expansion, we are looking for a motivated and professional individual to join our team and help develop our transport operation.
This is not a standard driving role. We are looking for someone who wants responsibility, can work independently, and is interested in helping grow the haulage side of the business while also supporting our contracting operations.
The Role
- Operating a modern Scania S650 and Nooteboom low-loader transporting agricultural machinery, construction plant and specialist equipment throughout the UK.
- Loading, securing and transporting a wide range of machinery including tractors, excavators, telehandlers and agricultural implements.
- Tractor and machinery operation within the contracting business when required.
- Planning and managing transport jobs efficiently.
- Maintaining excellent customer relationships and representing the business professionally.
- Identifying opportunities to develop and grow the haulage side of the business.
- Taking pride in vehicle presentation, compliance and safe working practices.
Requirements
Essential
- Class 1 (CE) HGV licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital tachograph card.
- Experience with plant, agricultural machinery or specialist transport.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good understanding of load security and vehicle compliance.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK with regular nights away from home.
Desirable
- Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.
- Low-loader or plant transport experience.
- Agricultural, construction, forestry or contracting background.
- Knowledge of STGO movements and abnormal load procedures.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be someone who:
- Treats the equipment as if it were their own.
- Takes ownership of their work and solves problems independently.
- Is reliable, organised and professional.
- Enjoys varied work and is comfortable working away from home.
- Wants to play a key role in growing a transport operation rather than simply driving a truck.
What We Offer
- Salary of £40,000–£55,000 depending on experience.
- Performance-related bonus scheme.
- Business development bonus for introducing and securing new haulage customers.
- Opportunity to earn a percentage of revenue generated from new transport work brought into the business.
- Modern, high-quality equipment.
- Varied and interesting work across the UK.
- Opportunity to help shape and grow an expanding transport operation.
- Long-term career progression for the right person.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than just a driving role. We are looking for an individual who can become a key part of the business and help build the transport operation for the future.
If you have experience in agricultural contracting, plant haulage, machinery transport, forestry or construction and are looking for a role with responsibility, opportunity and the ability to increase your earnings through business growth, we’d like to hear from you.
