The department is looking to recruit a full time Locum Consultant in Oral Surgery with a special interest in paediatrics. The department would consider a job share arrangement. The successful candidate(s) will be fully integrated into the departmental clinics and out-patient treatment lists as well as involvement with theatres. There is no out of hours on call requirement for this post.
Out-patient Department :
The role will contain routine attendance of new and follow up clinics for Oral Surgery patient care. There is a wide variety of pathologies treated within the department
(cleft, orthognathic, salivary gland, oral medicine etc.) and the opportunity to be present at multi-disciplinary meetings and clinics.
The successful candidate will perform independent minor operations under local anaesthesia, plus inhalation and intravenous sedation.
Theatre :
General anaesthetic lists may be available to undertake surgical treatment, including treatment of impacted and ectopic teeth, plus Paediatric Oral Surgery lists.
Leadership :
The post holder will have a responsibility for paediatric oral surgery lists.
Within the department there are shared roles amongst the Consultant staff, and it is expected that the post holder will be allocated to undertake one of the following:
- Clinical Governance Lead
- Clinical Lead
- Educational Supervisor for the Registrars
- Educational Supervisor for the DCTs
