Full job description

Please note: this position is based at our premises in Redlynch, approximately 20 minutes south of Salisbury. Applicants must be able to travel there reliably.

We are looking for a reliable, practical and detail-focused person to help with dispatch, mail order, parts preparation and goods-in.

This is a hands-on part-time role suited to someone who enjoys organised, practical work and takes pride in preparing customer orders accurately and on time. The work includes picking and packing orders, preparing parts, assembling fitting kits, receiving deliveries and carrying out stock checks.

The position is initially for approximately three months and 12 hours per week, worked as two weekday shifts of six hours. Additional hours may occasionally be available during busy periods by mutual agreement.

Pay: £14 per hour

Key responsibilities

You will be involved in:

Picking items accurately for customer orders.
Packing orders securely and neatly for dispatch.
Preparing parcels for courier collection or postal dispatch.
Labelling orders and checking dispatch paperwork.
Assembling fitting kits to specification.
Preparing parts, including cutting materials, sleeving chains and related preparation work.
Checking parts, kits and completed orders for accuracy.
Receiving deliveries, checking items against paperwork, counting stock and putting goods away.
Moving boxes and stock safely within the workplace.
Keeping the dispatch, stock and work areas clean, tidy, safe and well organised.
Reporting stock shortages, damaged goods, mistakes and quality issues.
Following company processes, training and health and safety procedures.

What we are looking for

The ideal person will be:

Reliable, punctual and consistent.
Accurate, careful and attentive to detail.
Practical and comfortable with hands-on work.
Able to follow instructions and repeat processes consistently.
Organised, tidy and methodical.
Able to work independently once trained.
Comfortable standing, lifting, carrying, unpacking deliveries and moving stock.
Willing to help with a variety of tasks in a small-business environment.
Positive, honest and dependable.
Able to travel reliably to our premises in Redlynch.

Experience

Previous experience in any of the following would be useful, but is not essential:

Warehouse or stockroom work.
Dispatch, mail order or order fulfilment.
Picking and packing orders.
Assembly or kit preparation.
Goods-in or stock control.
Practical workshop or hands-on production work.

Full training will be provided.

Physical requirements

This is a practical role involving standing, bending, lifting, carrying boxes, handling deliveries and completing repetitive preparation tasks.

Some boxes of components weigh up to approximately 20kg. The work also includes handling and sleeving chains weighing up to approximately 16kg and lifting them to a suitable working height.

Appropriate training and equipment will be provided. Applicants should be comfortable undertaking moderately physical work and following safe manual-handling procedures.

Working hours

The role is for approximately 12 hours per week, worked as two weekday shifts of six hours.

The exact days can be agreed, but we are looking for a regular and reliable working pattern. A typical arrangement might be Monday and Tuesday, 9:00am–3:00pm.

Additional hours may occasionally be available during busy periods by mutual agreement.
