Overview of the role
To act as a Learning & Development ambassador, designing and delivering engaging, high-quality training solutions across the business. The role focuses on analysing training needs, developing innovative e-learning and classroom content, and maintaining effective training materials and LMS systems. It includes supporting competency development, collaborating with SMEs, ensuring training aligns with manufacturing and safety standards, and continuously improving learning approaches to meet business needs and promote an inclusive, safety-focused culture.
Responsibilities
- To be an ambassador for learning and development within Chemring Countermeasures and the wider Chemring group
- Engage with subject matter experts to carry out training needs analyses and storyboard training courses
- To scope, design and develop dynamic and imaginative e-based and classroom-based training and development suitable for staff of all levels
- To evaluate and edit current learning packages, keeping them current, relevant and interesting
- Research and write instructional and process documentation
- Develop teaching tools that are outside of traditional methods
- Create and script training video and audio content
- To evaluate the way the learning management system (LMS) is used and make changes accordingly
- Administrate and manage the day to day running of the LMS
- Work with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by LMS users
- Produce and maintain quality lesson plans and training resources that offer a varied learning experience with a varied approach to delivery
- Develop competency assessment that effectively tests the retention and practical application of learning
- Facilitate discussion and collaboration with colleagues to establish effectiveness of training materials
- Keep up-to date on current best practices in instructional design
- To assist the Learning and Development Manager in the implementation of the L&D strategy
- Support the implementation of recognised manufacturing standards through quality training products
- Promote a positive, inclusive approach to the safety culture at CCM
- Design varying levels of training to a high standard under the guidance of the experienced Content Designer
- Ensure each business area is supported with clearly mapped training, with lesson plans produced for each training activity
- Create new training materials in conjunction with relevant departments and SME’s, maintain and update existing materials as required to reflect process and equipment changes within the business
- Assist with the technical knowledge transfer of new processes and products by ensuring there is fit for purpose process training in place which accommodates different learning styles
- Support line managers and SME’s in training needs analyses and best approach for delivery and implementation
- Assist in the co-ordination and planning of any training build requirements, ensuring that tangible project plans are in place and deadlines set and met
- Update and maintain LMS training packages along with the day-to-day administrative tasks of the LMS
- Contribute to content of toolbox talks, as required
- Support the Safety Department with maintenance of safety training packages, ensuring they remain compliant and relevant
- Communicate clearly and concisely in all forms and at a level suitable for the situation and audience present
Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
- Certification in Instructional Design Theory and Application (or willing to work toward)
- Certification in eLearning Development Theory and Application (or willing to work toward)
- Proficient in MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience
- Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development
- Demonstrate experience in designing content
- Working knowledge of Cornerstone and or other LMS systems / e-learning platforms
- Working knowledge of Articulate 360 or other eLearning authoring tools
- Working knowledge of Camtasia video editing software or other video editing software
- Using a training needs analyses approach with storyboarding
- Woking knowledge of different learning models/styles (VARK, 70-20-10 and others)
This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30.
