Due to continued growth in our renewable energy division, ACD Electrical Green-Tech are seeking an experienced Solar PV & Battery Storage Installation Engineer / Designer to join our expanding team.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of commercial and domestic solar PV and battery projects — from technical design and system layout through to installation, commissioning, and handover. Working across commercial, industrial, and domestic sites, you will ensure every installation meets industry regulations, performance requirements, and ACD Electrical Green-Tech's quality standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer with strong technical understanding of solar PV, battery storage, and associated electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out surveys, system designs, and layout plans for domestic and commercial solar PV and battery systems.
- Install, wire, and commission solar PV systems, inverters, and battery storage units.
- Create technical drawings, cable calculations, and system documentation.
- Work closely with domestic clients, commercial customers, project managers, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with BS 7671, MCS standards, and DNO requirements.
- Conduct testing, inspection, commissioning, and fault diagnosis.
- Provide technical support to apprentices and junior engineers.
- Deliver excellent customer service, particularly in domestic environments.
- Maintain high levels of quality, safety, and professionalism across all projects.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience installing and/or designing solar PV and battery systems (domestic and/or commercial).
- 2391 Test & Inspection.
- Strong knowledge of inverter technologies, solar mounting systems, and grid-tied system design.
- 18th Edition qualification.
- ECS Gold Card.
- Ability to read and produce drawings and technical documents.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience with domestic and commercial installs above 50kW.
- Familiarity with PV design software (Pylon).
- Experience with systems such as FOX ESS, Tesla, Sigenergi etc.
- SSSTS/SMSTS, IPAF, PASMA.
- MCS experience (either domestic or commercial).
