The Recovery Center of HOPE (RCH) https://www.recoverycenterofhope.org/ , a program of the Western Massachusetts Training Consortium, is seeking a full-time, in-person Assistant Program Director to join its team.
This role serves as a key leadership position within the Recovery Center of HOPE, helping guide the daily operations, team support, programming, and community culture of the center while advancing a peer participatory, recovery-oriented mission.
The Assistant Program Director will help steward the day-to-day heartbeat of the Recovery Center of HOPE by supporting the team, facilitating programming, strengthening consistency, and helping create the conditions for meaningful community connection, recovery, and belonging. This role requires someone who can balance leadership and collaboration while managing multiple moving priorities in a fast-paced, community-centered environment that often requires flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to pivot with intention and grace.

Position Overview
The Assistant Program Director serves as the operational and relational “anchor” of the Recovery Center of HOPE. This person helps ensure that the daily flow of the center remains organized, supportive, recovery-oriented, and aligned with the mission and values of the center. This includes a strong commitment to peer participatory principles and honoring multiple pathways of recovery without imposing personal beliefs or recovery approaches onto others.
Working closely with the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will help oversee daily center operations, support staff coordination and accountability, facilitate groups and community activities, and help maintain a welcoming and emotionally safe environment for all who enter the space.
This role requires strong leadership capacity, initiative, and follow-through, as well as the ability to navigate competing priorities with flexibility and independent, sound judgment. The ideal candidate will be capable of balancing operational responsibilities with relational leadership and warm community engagement.

Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Daily Flow
Help keep the day-to-day operations of the center running smoothly
Support coordination of daily center logistics, scheduling, programming, and groups/ activities/ events
Help the center stay organized, prepared, and responsive to changing needs
Maintain awareness of operational needs and communicate challenges proactively
Assist in implementation of community-driven solutions
Support consistency and follow-through across day-to-day center operations
Administrative Systems & Follow Through
Maintain existing tracking, documentation, and reporting systems
Support timely completion of administrative responsibilities and center communications
Coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously with thoughtful attention to detail and follow-through
Participate in supervision, team meetings, trainings, and organizational initiatives
Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and agency policies
Staff Support, Supervision & Team Communication
Help communicate daily priorities, expectations, and operational needs clearly across the team
Provide collaborative supervision, guidance, and accountability support to staff, peer leaders, and volunteers
Help maintain strong internal communication and team alignment
Model clear, grounded, respectful, and solution-focused communication
Support a healthy team culture rooted in recovery, collaboration, mutual respect, and accountability
Center Environment & Culture Stewardship
Help foster an inclusive, respectful, and peer-led community environment
Facilitate recovery-oriented groups, events, and community activities
Ensure the physical environment is ready for programming and community use
Support conflict navigation and relational repair within the center community when necessary
Help maintain a steady, supportive emotional tone in the space
Reinforce peer participatory principles and non-clinical recovery values in daily practice
Build meaningful relationships with community members while maintaining healthy boundaries
Schedule
Monday through Friday. Hours may vary to meet program needs, including some evenings and occasional weekend shifts.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years lived experience in substance use recovery
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required
Substantial experience in peer-based recovery environments
Familiarity with recovery-oriented systems of care
Experience navigating conflict resolution and/ or restorative communication practices
Experience in leadership, supervision, program coordination, and/or operational management
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to pivot thoughtfully and respond effectively in dynamic situations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong emotional recovery, professional judgement, and relational leadership skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Office 365
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Experience
Experience in peer-based recovery environments
Group facilitation and community engagement experience
Staff supervision or team leadership experience
Experience working with diverse communities and identities
Experience navigating conflict resolution or restorative communication practices
