JOB TITLE: Practice Nurse
REPORTS TO: Lead Nurse, Operations Manager
HOURS: 33.5 hours per week. Negotiable for the right candidate
Monday: 8:30am – 5pm
Tuesday: 8:30am – 2pm
Wednesday: 8:30am – 2pm
Thursday: 8:30am – 5pm
Friday: 8:30am – 5pm
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and organised Primary Care Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys a varied role and values continuity of care within general practice.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality nursing care to our Nevells Road Surgery population, both within the practice and in patients' homes.
We welcome someone who brings a positive attitude, is self-motivated and able to work independently. Whilst knowing there is always support offered from our friendly clinical and administrative staff, should it be required.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications
· Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
· Evidence of ongoing CPD
Experience
· Experience working of working within a primary care environment
Skills and Knowledge
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills towards colleagues and patients
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Competent with IT
· Experience using clinical systems (ideally SystmOne & AccuRx)
· Comfortable with following practice processes & procedures
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
The post holder will be expected to:
- Undertake general treatment room duties including:
- Wound care management and dressings
- Suture and clip removal
- Phlebotomy
- ECG recording
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Administration of injections and vaccinations. Including childhood immunisations, seasonal vaccinations and adult immunisations, in accordance with national guidance.
- Cervical cytology
- Taking swab samples
- Travel vaccinations and advice
- Health promotion and preventative care advice
- Urinalysis
- Phlebotomy
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Stocking measurement
- Undertaking a small number of patient housebound visits (cost of fuel expensed to the practice)
- Undertake doppler studies
- Assisting annual long term condition reviews
- Clinical admin such as checking & recording fridge temperatures, checking the emergency trolley & equipment checking
- Act as a chaperone
- Stock ordering and management
- Help support and offer guidance to more junior members of the nursing team where necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records and coding using the practice clinical system (SystmOne)
- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed at all times.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns for children and vulnerable adults
Professional Responsibilities
The post holder will:
- To maintain Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) professional registration and undertake revalidation requirements
- Work within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct
- Participate in clinical supervision, appraisal, and continuing professional development (CPD)
- Work within practice policies, procedures, and NHS England (or equivalent) guidelines
- Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and Caldicott principles
Communication and Team Working
The post holder will:
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and members of the multidisciplinary team
- Provide compassionate and patient-centred care
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support efficient practice operations
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
