Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Workshop Plant Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating plant equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with electrical systems, and proficiency with various hand and power tools. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in fabrication, welding, and equipment maintenance to contribute to a dynamic industrial environment.

Duties

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on plant machinery, including excavators, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
Fabricate components and parts using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques in accordance with schematics and technical drawings
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
Operate hand tools and power tools safely to perform repairs, modifications, or assembly tasks
Repair or replace faulty electrical wiring, switches, motors, or components as required
Assist in the fabrication of custom parts or modifications to improve equipment performance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies

Skills

Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, and electrical systems
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts
Experience in equipment repair and preventative maintenance programmes
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Customer service orientation when liaising with internal departments or external clients regarding equipment issues

This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to utilise their technical skills within a challenging industrial setting. Candidates should possess relevant experience in plant maintenance or fabrication environments.
