Full job description

We are a fast paced, family run architectural ironmongers. Specialising in a wide variety of materials for the building trade. We are currently looking to add an enthusiastic, self motivated individual to our sales team, in particular to our busy counter sales department & to aid with deliveries.

Full training will be provided, however previous experience in a similar environment would be desirable.

Job Type: Full time permanent

Duties include but not limited to:

Building relationships with customers through excellent customer service, understanding requirements and ensuring that the correct products are quoted; as a result, securing on-going business.
Resolving after sales issues that may arise in an appropriate and efficient manner.
When required organising & processing supplier returns.
Answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries and directing to the correct department/ person when required.
Preparing & chasing of customer quotes.
Ensuring the showroom & counter area is kept tidy & organised.
Reordering showroom stock & ensuring shelves are fully stocked.
Have the ability to take part in regular stock checks.
Preparation & checking of customer sales orders.
Assisting with delivering customer orders as and when required.
Candidate must be confident, committed, and motivated, with strong IT skills.
Must have a team ethic to meet department sales targets.
Performing any other duties as may be deemed necessary, or may be required.

Please note this role does require occasional heavy lifting.

Skills & Attributes:

Full clean driving license.
Basic understanding of Microsoft packages
Excellent literacy & numerical skills.
IT literate.
Great timekeeping.
Must be able to work as a team and use your own initiative.
Trustworthy & reliable.
Excellent customer service skills.
Organised & methodical.
Can listen to instruction.

The ideal candidate will report directly to the branch manager.
