The Bursar will play a critical role in shaping the next phase of Oundle’s financial and operational development. Reporting to the Head and Governing Body, the Bursar will oversee the resourcing and commercial strategy for the entire Corporation, comprising Oundle School, Laxton Junior School, the Oundle School Foundation and Oundle School Enterprises. The postholder will lead strategic planning, ensure financial sustainability and embed a robust culture of compliance. The impact of the role will be visible across the estate, supporting a safe and thriving educational environment and leading a substantial team of support staff across a wide range of functions. The Bursar is also a Director of Oundle School Enterprises Limited and any other trading entities as agreed with the Head and Chairman, including the commercial activities of the Oundle School Sports Centre and Oundle School International Limited.
The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of executive leadership alongside significant experience in finance, estate management or complex operations. They will be a natural relationship‑builder and collaborative leader, able to oversee a multi‑disciplinary senior team and act as Secretary to the Governing Body. Experience within education is not a prerequisite, and applications are welcomed from candidates in commercial, charitable and other relevant sectors who bring strategic insight, operational expertise and a genuine commitment to Oundle’s values.
