Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled 2D/3D Design Draughtsperson, Doncaster based company specialising in Pharmaceutical Filtration and Drying Equipment on a world wide basis. A knowledge of pressure vessel design and process engineering is a advantge.
Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and improving mechanical components, products, and systems. Their responsibilities often include:
1. Product and Component Design
- Create mechanical designs based on project requirements.
- Develop 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods.
2. Engineering Analysis
- Perform calculations related to strength, stress, vibration, thermal performance, and safety based on design code.
- Conduct simulations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), familiar with Finglow and other engineering tools - optional.
- Verify designs meet performance requirements.
3. Documentation
- Prepare engineering drawings, fabrication drawing, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and technical reports.
- Maintain design records and revision control.
- Ensure documentation complies with company and industry standards.
4. Manufacturing Support
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be produced efficiently.
- Resolve production issues and implement design improvements.
- Support tooling, assembly, and quality-control activities.
5. Project Collaboration
- Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams.
- Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
- Communicate technical information to stakeholders and customers.
6. Compliance and Standards
- Ensure designs comply with applicable regulations, safety requirements, and industry standards like ASME(BPVC), PD 5500.
- Conduct risk assessments and design validation activities.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve reliability, and enhance product performance.
- Research new materials, technologies, and engineering methods.
8. Typical Skills Required

Pay: £35,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
