Are you someone who can support and mentor clients to make impactful health and safety related decisions?
We are looking for a qualified (Level 3 or above) experienced Health and Safety Risk Advisor, to join our forward thinking and motivated team of H&S professionals working across North Yorkshire and beyond.
Our aim is to empower our clients and teams to make informed decisions relating to health and safety.
The Role
This role is varied and whilst knowledge of health and safety in fire safety would be an advantage we will consider your application whatever your health and safety background.
You will work across with internal and external partners to support and improve health and safety and helping to embed positive safety cultures. You will support our clients to provide safe working and educational environments.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across the stunning landscapes of North Yorkshire covering two national Parks and an area of outstanding natural beauty. This role offers a great balance of flexibility: your time will be split between on-site visits across the northern and eastern parts of our county and working from one of our NYC offices when required.

As a Health and Safety Risk Advisor you will have good negotiation skills to advise on health and safety both statutory requirements and best practice to support our clients to continuously improve
You will be supported by an innovative team of H&S professionals, with a wide variety of knowledge and experience, where you are able to influence but also develop your own professional skills. We are committed to supporting you in this by providing opportunities for training and mentoring.

- Manage complex and higher-risk environments with greater operational challenges.
- Act as an autonomous practitioner, using professional judgment to intervene and stop unsafe practices when necessary.
- Lead the development of new systems of work where existing methods fall short.
- Investigate serious incidents and provide strategic advice to senior leaders.
- Represent the service at internal and external meetings.
- Influence policy development.
- Occasionally lead specialist projects that shape health and safety practices across the organisation.
- Influence external stakeholders (e.g. Schools) on potential improvements they can make
- Build trusting and impactful relationships with external stakeholders
What you will bring:
In your supporting evidence, please include evidence of;
- A minimum level 3 Accredited Occupational Safety and Health Qualification (NEBOSH), or equivalent, as recognised by IOSH- ideally General or Fire safety
- Examples of your experience working in a health and safety context
A huge bonus would be
- Recognised Fire Risk Assessors course, membership of Institute of Fire Safety Management (IFSM) and achieved, or working towards, registration on the National Fire Risk Assessors Register (NFRAR) at Intermediate level, demonstrating competence in the delivery of fire risk assessments for medium-risk and moderately complex premises.
We are looking for a highly flexible professional, well-motivated, self-starter who possesses excellent communication skills and a commitment to ensuring the highest level of health and safety.
Ideally, you will also have proven capability to deliver high-level professional advice with minimal supervision.
Due to the travel requirements of the role, you must have a full driving license and/or access to a vehicle.
