Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and observant Referee to oversee our 6aside league on Wednesday evenings at Pindar Leisure Centre, Scarborough. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about sports and committed to upholding integrity on the field.
Responsibilities
- Enforce game rules and regulations consistently during matches or competitions
- Make impartial decisions regarding fouls, penalties, and other infringements
- Monitor player behaviour to promote sportsmanship and safety
- Communicate clearly with players, coaches, and officials regarding decisions and game procedures
- Keep accurate records of game incidents or disciplinary actions when required
- Ensure the playing area is safe, well-maintained, and free from hazards
- Manage timekeeping and ensure the smooth progression of matches according to schedule
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or disputes that arise during play
Requirements
- Prior experience as a referee or in a similar role within the sport is desirable but not essential
- Excellent knowledge of the specific sport’s rules and regulations
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to remain impartial under pressure
- Good communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to effectively manage players and officials
- Ability to stay alert for extended periods during matches
- Confidence in handling disputes professionally and calmly
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
