The Ophthalmic Imaging team at York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our rapidly expanding East Coast service.
This is an exciting opportunity where you will acquire high quality diagnostic ophthalmic images to support clinicians in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of complex eye conditions. As technology advances, you will be expected to embrace new skills and modalities as the service evolves, playing a vital role in the development of ophthalmology services across the Trust.
We pride ourselves in a collaborative working culture. A successful candidate will be effective in working as part of a wider team, through sharing knowledge and supporting one another to deliver the best possible service for our patients.
While the primary base for this role is Malton Hospital, you will be expected to work regularly across all Trust sites, including Scarborough, Bridlington, and York. The ability to travel independently across the region is an essential requirement of the post.
Interviews for this position will be held in person at one of our East Coast sites. By submitting your application, you acknowledge that no remote interviews will be offered.
The core duties of an Ophthalmic Imaging Technician are to take the most clinically useful OCT scans and fundus photographs, using specialist equipment.
There may also be a requirement for the post holder to undertake biometry, visual fields, visual acuity and instil dilating eye drops.
Experience in general photography, fundus photography and OCT scans is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided. Proficiency in using Heidelberg Spectralis, Kowa and Optos is desirable.
We are a very busy, fast paced service so you should be able to work calmly and confidently under pressure.
You should be technically minded, show a keen attention to detail and demonstrate a strong commitment to high standards of patient care. You should have a passion for patient centred care, and kindness that reflects our Trust's values.
You will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team e.g. Photographers, Clinicians and Nurses. You should have experience and skills in teamwork and be able to demonstrate your ability to work effectively as part of a team.
If you are an organised and efficient individual who has a keen interest in Ophthalmic Imaging & pathology and anatomy of the eye, then this could be the job you have been looking for!
