Job Purpose:
The Neurodiversity Sports Coordinator will lead the design, development, and delivery of an innovative and
forward thinking inclusion project aimed at improving access to sport and physical activity for neurodivergent
children and young people (CYP). This role will play a critical part in addressing existing barriers to
participation by creating inclusive, welcoming, and adaptable sporting opportunities that meet a wide range
of sensory, communication, and learning needs.
Working across the wider system, the postholder will collaborate with sports providers, education settings,
community organisations, and key stakeholders to strengthen local capacity for inclusive practice. This will
involve developing and delivering targeted training, sharing evidence based approaches, and supporting
organisations to build confidence and competence in working with neurodivergent CYP. A key focus will be
on establishing sustainable frameworks and pathways that embed neuro inclusive principles into everyday
practice, ensuring lasting impact beyond the lifetime of the project.
The role will also involve engaging directly with neurodivergent children, young people, and their families to
ensure their voices, experiences, and feedback inform the design and delivery of activities. By fostering
strong partnerships and co-production approaches, the coordinator will help create meaningful, accessible
opportunities that promote participation, wellbeing, and social connection.
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of inclusive practice in sport and physical activity. The
post offers the chance to drive meaningful change within the local community, reduce inequalities in access,
and support neurodivergent children and young people to develop confidence, build relationships, and
experience the many physical and mental health benefits of being active.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

The role involves building strong partnerships with sports clubs, schools, community organisations, health services, and local neurodiversity support providers to increase awareness, engagement, and uptake of services. You will design and deliver disability inclusion and neurodiversity training for coaches, volunteers, and community organisations, develop practical tools and frameworks to support inclusive environments, and work closely with neurodivergent children, young people, and their families to co-produce services and initiatives. You will be responsible for collecting and analysing feedback, attendance data, and project outcomes to evaluate impact, produce reports, and identify opportunities for service development and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Head of Autism Services, you will maintain accurate records, contribute to audits, quality assurance activities, research projects, and local service development initiatives, while ensuring a high standard of service delivery is achieved and maintained across the project.
